FAQs
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions concerning the program and how you and your schools can help. If you do not find answers to your questions here, please Contact Us.sprite
- How do we get involved in the Shoes That Fit program?
- If your school is near a Rack Room Shoes store, you can fill out a Participation Form and fax it back to us at 805-517-1977. We will review your school’s application and contact you with further information. If your school is chosen for the program, we will send you a Shoes That Fit Kit with instructions and your Sponsorship Card. If you would like to support the Shoes That Fit program, please visit our How You Can Help section.
- Who approves school participation?
- Rack Room Shoes will make the final determination based on set criteria that we look at when reviewing a school’s Participation Form.
- How are funds raised to purchase shoes for needy kids?
- Through all of our more than 390 Rack Room Shoes stores across the United States, we sponsor fundraising campaigns and seek donations to help school children in our communities. All of the funds collected at each store stay in the local community in which they were generated.
- Who coordinates the effort between our school and Rack Room Shoes?
- When you fill out your Participation Form, you will designate a school liaison and alternate liaison that will coordinate the efforts between your school and Rack Room Shoes. This can be any person who is employed by the school or district (teacher, counselor, administrator, etc.)
- What if your store doesn’t have the shoe size or width needed by a student?
- If your local Rack Room Shoes store does not have the shoe size or width needed, the store manager will work with other Rack Room Shoes locations to find the proper fit.
- How are students who need shoes selected?
- The shoes must go to children from low income families or those living below the poverty level. Your school knows best which students need the most help. You school staff will supply the school liaison with the necessary information.
- What is a Sponsorship Card?
- The Sponsorship Card works just like a gift card. The funds that are raised for your school by the Rack Room Shoes store in your community are loaded onto the Sponsorship Card. Your school liaison will then take the Sponsorship Card to Rack Room Shoes and use it to purchase shoes for the children.
- When does a Sponsorship Card expire?
- The funds loaded on the Sponsorship Card need to be used by the end of the school year. For year-round schools, the funds must be used by August of the year following receipt of the card.
- What if there is remaining credit on the Sponsorship Card?
- You do not have to use all the money at one time. The Sponsorship Card works just like a gift card. If you only spend a portion of the funds on your first trip to buy shoes, a credit will remain on the card for you to use at a future date, not to exceed the card’s expiration date.
- Who measures students for their shoes?
- We recommend the school liaison listed on your Participation Form measure the students, as they are most familiar with the program. For safety reasons, the individual who measures the student MUST be a staff member employed by the school or district.
- How are shoe sizes communicated to Rack Room Shoes?
- The school liaison will record the shoe sizes on the Student Information Form and take this form with them to the store when they go to purchase the shoes for the students.
- How can parents and school supporters help?
- In order to remain impartial and protect the identity of the children receiving shoes, we require that school faculty manage the program. Parents and school supporters who wish to help are encouraged to participate in the in-store fundraising efforts so that their school can receive more funds and, in turn, put more shoes on kids’ feet.
- Are donations to the Shoes That Fit program tax deductible?
- Yes. All donations made to the Shoes That Fit program are tax deductible.
- What is a Student Information Form and where can I get it?
- The Student Information Form will be used to record the child’s name (first name only and last initial), gender, age, and shoe size. This form needs to be taken to the Rack Room Shoes store when purchasing the shoes and it must be sent to Rack Room Shoes once the shoe fittings have been completed and the shoes for all of the children on the form have been distributed. This form can be downloaded from the Forms section of this website.
- How is the Shoes That Fit program promoted in the school and to parents?
- Rack Room Shoes promotes the Shoes That Fit program in its stores, as well as throughout the communities they serve. We do not require schools to promote the program in order to receive the funds. If a school wishes to generate more funds through their promotions, Rack Room Shoes will provide materials.
- When are funds raised and when do selected kids receive their shoes?
- Rack Room Shoes raises funds for the Shoes That Fit program during the Back-To-School shopping season so that we can get the funds to the schools at the beginning of the school year. The school and school liaison make the determination as to when they distribute the shoes to the students.
- How do we reach Rack Room Shoes and Shoes That Fit?
- You can reach us by clicking Contact Us.
- Is there a limit to the number of deserving students who can receive shoes?
- No. All of the funds collected stay local, benefiting children in your community. The more money raised in your community the more there is to purchase shoes for the students in need. We encourage the individual buying the shoes to take advantage of sales and in-store promotions to maximize their funds and help as many students as possible.
- Does Rack Room Shoes help children in other countries?
