The Shoes That Fit program sponsored by Rack Room Shoes benefits thousands of school children who need shoes each year throughout the country. We have found that even a pair of new shoes can often mean the difference between a child succeeding or failing in school and into the future. Their self esteem rises and they can focus more on their studies than their dire circumstances. There are countless, heartwarming stories of how these kids benefited from the Shoes That Fit program and we would like to share those with you and others on a special Shoes That Fit Blog. New Shoes for Recess

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

There is a girl at my school who used to sit by herself every day during recess. When the school staff asked her why she was always alone, she explained that she was a large girl for her age, a bit awkward and she had to wear her mother’s shoes. with a floppy sole that were too big on her. She said she sometimes tripped and fell in the shoes and she was afraid of hurting someone. She received shoes from the Shoes That Fit program and has since made several friends and now plays with them at recess. Her smile is infectious.
