The Shoes That Fit program sponsored by Rack Room Shoes benefits thousands of school children who need shoes each year throughout the country. We have found that even a pair of new shoes can often mean the difference between a child succeeding or failing in school and into the future. Their self esteem rises and they can focus more on their studies than their dire circumstances. There are countless, heartwarming stories of how these kids benefited from the Shoes That Fit program and we would like to share those with you and others on a special Shoes That Fit Blog. To spread the word about what you have seen and how it made a real difference Sign up.

Just-Socks

Friday, April 24th, 2009

A boy was sent to the principal’s office when he came to school wearing only socks on his feet. He told the principal that there are four children in his family, but only three pairs of shoes shared between them. He was the last to get dressed that morning and had to come to school with just his socks.

The kids cruelly dubbed him “Johnnie-Just-Socks,” with the help of Shoes That Fit stepped in and provided “Johnnie” with new shoes.
